Standing in front of a camera is one of the toughest things for me. I had a period in my life where I had gained a lot of weight (a lot!) and made me feel really self conscious of having my picture taken. The only pictures you can find of myself at that time are selfies. I know! 🤦♀️Speacilly those #selfies with a thousand filters. You know what am talking about.
Today, I can say I’m really happy with the way I look, though, I’m still working on reaching my goal. However, I have noticed that I still have some insecurities when it comes to having my picture taken.
In the process of working and getting everything ready to launch this blog. I needed to get some amazing photos that portray who I am. And I did! I got my photos taken by @YaSaDaChicago, a photography and styling studio in the city.
I had no idea what kind of photos I wanted or where I wanted them to be taken. All I knew is that they had to look great! I was looking to show who I was and I wanted to feel comfortable and confident showing them to the world.
Picture day! I meet with Yanelli, YASADA’s make up artist and David, the photographer at my apartment. Yanelli did an amazing job with my makeup and helped me choose what to wear. I tried a couple of outfits until we found the right one!
We headed out and drove to Hyde Park in Chicago. I had no idea what to expect so I just let David direct me. At the beginning, I felt so awkward and silly posing and smiling in the middle of a museum but as we kept on going I felt more confident with myself. We talk around Hyde park and got some more photos, at this time I was so much relax and David had already had me all figured out. He told me exactly how to pose and when to smile.
A couple hours later, I got to see the final product and I was beyond happy. The pictures came out amazing and I truly believe they reflect who I am.
After having such a stress-free experience and so much fun I think I’m ready for my next photoshoot.
When working with a professional photographer and makeup artist, I learned that if you want to get a quality job you need to follow their lead. They know what they are doing and it's in their best interest to make you look your best.
