Spring Clean your business

Check my top 5 things to do this spring to bump up your business.

  1.  Purge “la oficina”. Get rid of everything you haven’t used in the last 6 months. Organize your files and store away what does not need your daily or immediate attention. Just like at home, if you are not using it, don’t keep it. Let’s open space for better things. But don’t get crazy here. Remember that some documents such as receipts, invoices, and contracts should stay with you. Grab your favorite colored folder and store away.

  2. Use the Cloud. Nothing makes my life easier than having all the important documents in a place that is safe and easy to access. Make sure that early in the process you organize everything right. Think of it as a file cabinet. And if this spring you must clean it up, block a few hours from your day and focus only on doing this task. Draft a visual map of how your files should look. This will make it easier for you to start organizing and labeling your folders.

  3. Bye, bye junk mail. Stop giving away your professional email for everything. It’s ok to be a little selective. I’m sure we all have this one problem, every morning when it’s time to check your email you first have to swipe left until you get rid of all that junk email. Take this time to organize your email. Create smart folders and unsubscribe from all those unwanted emails. Make sure once you unsubscribe you also delete all the evidence. Clear up space for the IMPORTANT emails.

  4. Take charge of your books. If you have been running your business for a while this is a task that you should have already mastered. Creating a system that works for you and will help you get paid for your work on time is imperative, but if you are struggling and chasing over that one client that is always late to pay, consider this a must do. Develop a system where you can track your expenses, invoices, process payments and track your projects. This will make running your business a breeze.

  5. Spark up your social media. Have you been slacking on your social media? Nowadays it’s very important to have a presence on the internet. If your business is not online, it’s as if it does not exist. Take this time to plan what you want to share with your audience. Create a small weekly or monthly calendar and plan out what you want to share. I recommend you follow this simple rule; 4-1-1, post 4 pieces of content that are entertaining, inform or educate your audience, 1 soft sale, and 1 hard sale. Follow this rule when planning for a nice flow in your social media outlets. Get your customers and prospects interested in your service and/or product not bored with what you are posting.

There are many other things you can do this spring but these simple steps will get you to a good start. Get creative along the way and have a great spring cleaning day!
